Bamboo Monkey Shack

The first Bamboo structure built on our abundant beautiful land. Currently used as the home base of Piedra, Bamboo & Madera natural building workshop, hosting our land caretakers, storing our tools and serving as a space to shelter family, friends, visitors, workers, partners, volunteers, interns and neighbors on their experience through our farm.

Eventually hosting Climbing related activities to engage community and build resilence. While learning, enjoying and sharing nature, farming and simple living we will be sending out hard climbing routes in a few months ahead on our back rock climbing training wall.

6 metal drums filled with sand and rocks between the bamboo and metal foundations of the semi-permanent 9m Dendrocalamus Asper treated poles that hold the 2.5 Guadua Angustifolia double beams, flooring and roofing substructure, creating a beautiful natural simple space that was built in only 2 weeks, designed by Hans Hernández M. and accomplished with the help of 4 more other monkeys from the Piedra, Bamboo & Madera team.

Locked storage, open storage, tools shed, workshop area, kitchenet, 2 private rooms, multi purpose front deck, loft style private room and deck with weived paracord space-hamocks and bridge to future tree platform and climbing wall, with harvested rain water filtered with activated charcoal made by ourselves from reclaimed dry old wood, composting toilet and outdoor natural shower.
